About the Author
Stephanie Woo is a Montessori-certified professional with a specialty in children ages 0-3. In 2011, she was awarded the Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) degree from The Montessori Institute in Denver, Colorado. She is also the mother of twin girls, Brooke and Mackenzie, whom she raised using the Montessori Method.
Stephanie’s own mother, Lam Hu, received her AMI 0-6 certification and was the first person to bring Montessori to Taiwan over thirty years ago, where she now runs five Montessori schools, called Ms. Lam’s School. Following in her mother’s footsteps are Stephanie’s brother Alfred, sister-in- law Cynthia, and cousin Daisy, who all became AMI-certified Montessori teachers and professionals. Stephanie’s brother runs several English language schools in Taiwan using the Montessori principles of teaching language. Stephanie’s cousin Daisy owns a Montessori school in Northern California. You can say Montessori runs in the family.
Following the birth of her own children, Stephanie decided it was time to pursue her AMI Montessori degree. Based on her training and her own mother’s advice, she incorporated Montessori into every aspect of her parenting. This practice led Stephanie to start a blog called Montessori on the Double to document her journey. Based on her training and experience, she coaches and consults for families around the country via private home consultations or Skype consultations. Her passion in life is to help parents create the best home environments for babies and toddlers to learn, grow, and thrive.
Originally from Taipei, Taiwan, Stephanie is an Ivy-League graduate from Columbia University. She lived in New York City for twenty years, and currently lives in Portland, Oregon with her husband and twin daughters.
